A collaborative divorce is a newer offering among family law practices. When most people think of divorce, the picture of traditional divorce pops into their mind — with two spouses arguing with or intimidating each other, and separate attorneys trying to outdo the other one.

Collaborative divorce is completely different than traditional divorce. In collaborative divorce, both parties along with the support of two collaborative attorneys, a divorce coach and a financial neutral take the steps necessary to address the needs unique to their case and create a lasting divorce settlement without court intervention. 

During the first meeting, each spouse will meet their representing collaborative divorce attorney. Each spouse will also sign a participation agreement and agrees to openly and honestly share all relevant information necessary to address the financial and legal issues of their case.
